10/9/11 Titchwell RSPB

After another week toiling in westerlies for no reward I took an afternoon trip to Titchwell RSPB, where I was pleased to see a host of familiar faces and, finally, some good birds! I arrived to news that the juvenile LITTLE BITTERN was showing well and raced around just in time to get views of it perched on the edge of the pools. More maneuvering resulted in excellent views of this smart bird. Unfortunately there was no sign of the Cattle Egret, but on the brackish marsh the Buff-breasted Sandpiper was showing, if a little distantly. The pools were looking excellent, with 2 Greenshanks, 2 Curlew Sandpipers and a Spotted Redshank all showing well on the freshmarsh, while 2 Wheatears and 6 Yellow Wagtails, including a bird that was probably a Blue-headed Wagtail, were also noted.
